Germination power of pepper seeds came into first appearance at the 30th or 35th day, when the quantitative fruit growth almost entirely ceased, and it increased with fruit maturity until the 50-day-old stage. Storing of the harvested fruits for 60days at room temperature caused remarkable increase in both germination per cent and germination energy. Effect of after-ripening was higher for the Japanese varieties than for the foreign (Harris' Early Giant).
