内容記述 | 1. This paper deals with the experimental results on the influence of H-ion concentration on the germination of zoosporangia, formed on the fruits of egg plant artificially inoculated with the fungus, Phytophora parasitica DASTUR, causing the blight and rot of water melon. 2. The experiments were carried out by using a hanging drop culture of zoosporangial suspension on a slide glass enclosed in Petri dishes, kept at 30℃, optimum temperature of this fungus, for four hours in incubator. In preparing for suspensions, the distilled water was fixed to various H-ion concentrations, respectively pH 3.5,4.0,5.7,6.5 (distilled water), 7.1,8.4,and 9.0,with N/10 HCl or NaOH. 3. From the experiments, the sporangia germinated by either zoospores or germ tubes. The germination took place far greater in number with zoospores than with germ tubes at H-ion concentrations between pH 4.0 and pH 9.0,with an optimum of pH 6.5. 4. The germination on acid side fell sharply off in number from pH 6.5 to pH 4.0,but on basic side comparatively gradual decreased from pH 6.5 to pH 9.0. 5. In these experiments, zoosporangia of this fungus germinated at the H-ion concentration between pH 4.0 and pH 9.0 by either zoospores or germ tubes. | |||||||||||||||||||||
