| 内容記述 | わが国の主要造林樹種であるスギとヒノキの細根について, 温室内で数種類の土壌を用いてさし木から発根させたものをその分岐様式について調べた。方法は切り取った根を紙の上に広げてコピーをとり, そのあとデジタイザーで根長を次数別に測るというものである。これにより発根後の根が1次根長の増加にともなってやがて2次根を分岐し根長を増やしていく成長プロセスを定量的に表すことができた。さし床に用いた4種の土壌のうちでは, 赤玉土が最も根の分岐と伸長成長が盛んであった。しかしスギとヒノキの根の分岐密度の比較では春ざしと秋ざしの実験で反対の結果が得られた。このことは, 生育時期や期間による影響を示唆したが, 今後応用範囲を広げるためには, 作業の省力化とともに細根の形態に関する基礎的な情報の蓄積が望まれる。 | |||||

| 内容記述 | Branching pattern was investigated of roots produced by cuttings of the two Japanese conifers, Cryptomeria japonica and Chamaecyparis obtusa using different soils. The method was simply to photocopy the roots and measure the root lengths of the first-order or second or more by using a digitizing line-meter. The early process of root growth could be expressed quantitatively and which soil condition was favored most was shown, but different periods of experiment led to opposite trends of branching density between the two species, which indicated that further investigations were still needed to draw any reliable conclusion. Nevertheless it is expected that this kind of information may have broad applicability due to the important role of fine roots in the forest ecosystems. | |||||
