The results were as follows. 1) The peak of leaf-fall in the studied stands occurred in autumn, and in some of them, two separate peaks were seen. A minor peak in May was also recognized. 2) Seasonal fluctuations of leaf-fall were synchronized among stands within a local area, regardless of stand age. The nearer the stands were to each other, the more marked was the synchronization. 3) The autumn peak occurred earlier in years with low Warmth Index values than in years with high values. Comparison of the present data with those for many stands (WI : 82-130℃・month) previously reported revealed that the peaks occurred earlier with decreasing Warmth Index. 4) From data on pine leaf-fall seasons reported previously, data on pine needle fall obtained by OOHATA and WATANABE and the results of this study, Japanese red pine stands in Japan were classified into the autumn type. In several stands with a high density exceeding 15,000 trees/ha or with a ground space of less than 0.7m^2/tree, expressed as the mean area occupied by a tree, the May peak expanded into the growing season and the major peak in autumn became a minor one. It was thought that expansion of the May peak resulted from poor adaptability of Japanese red pine to a small growing space, due to morphological characteristics such as branching, arragemant of needle on shoots, and needle length. This is one of the effects of density and was previously reported as a property of Pinus get in the Quaternary period by OOHATA and WATANABE. 5) Annual leaf-fall rates (mean : 5.30±1.34t/ha・yr) in 13 dense stands showing an expanded May peak or growing season were higher than those (mean : 2.96±0.96t/ha・yr) in 42 stands showing a marked autumn peak.}, pages = {47--57}, title = {アカマツ林の落葉の季節変動と林分間にみられる同調性(林学部門)}, volume = {42}, year = {1990}, yomi = {サイトウ, ヒデキ} }
