内容記述 | In this paper is given an account of the seasonal andal titudinal distribution of the Carabid beetles on the east slope of Mt. Jonen (2857m.), the Japan Alps. Carrion-traps arranged at intervals of 200 or 300m in altitude were applied to the research, which was carried on from May to November, 1960. The results obtained are summarized as in the following lines. 1. The Carabid beetles collected during the research are 3431 in total, which belong to 60 species. 2. The seasonal occurrence of the Carabid beetles is scarcely affected by altitude in each species. In general, allied species occur simultaneously. 3. The Carabid beetles are most abundant in the montane zone. The lowland (lower than 1100m.), montane (1100-1600m.), subalpine (1600-2500m.) and alpine (higher than 2500m.) species are 18,22,11 and 6 in number, respectively. It is recognizable that the higher the altitude rises the darker or the smaller the body of beetle becomes not only in different species but also in the same species. The alpine species tend to be wingless. 4. The vertical distribution of the beetles shows a binominal distribution. It may be possible that the beetles with a large standard deviation has a wide range in horizontal distribution, too. Furthermore, allied species are found nearly in the same habitats although their distribution curves do not coincide with each other in peak or standard deviation. 5. In the present study it comes to the conclusion that the form identified with Colpodes xestus by previous authors, in reality should be divided into two species and that Pristosia colpodoides is merely a mountainous form of P. aeneola. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
